A heavy book which, like many 19th-century science books, is beautifully ornamented and illustrated and covers a wide range of topics: Seafaring superstitions, sea monsters, shells and sea life, fishing, navigation, lighthouses, and so much more!

Book is in good condition; boards show some rubbing and light marks to front board, as well as sun fading on back. Corners are bumped and spine shows some shelf wear and sun fading. Binding is tight, pages are clean and are lightly tanned with age.
