1790 Bertuch Insects Engraving
This one is so fun, and reminds me of a sketchbook page! Gorgeous hand-colored engraving from Friedrich Johann Justin Bertuch's "Bilderbuch für Kinder," c. 1790, of various insects including a lantern bug, praying mantis, cicada, and rhinoceros beetle. The figures are labeled with a delicate script.
Print shows some light surface staining and tanning. High quality paper and beautiful, subtle colors.
