Orchids for Everyone 1910
Orchids for Everyone by Charles H. Curtis, F.R.H.S. Formerly keeper of the orchid collection at the Royal Gardens, Kew.
Published by J.M. Dent & Sons: London and E.P. Dutton & Co.: New York, 1910.
Large, heavy orchid guide filled with full page plates of over 100 orchids in both color and black and white. These orchids are organized according to their value for general cultivation: most useful, lesser value, and hardy, with information for each. There is a section on hybridization, seeds and seedlings, as well as a helpful “calendar of reminders” at the back of the book with tasks for each month.
Book is very sturdy with tight binding. Pages are bright and clean with a deckled edge. Cover boards are slightly bowed with water stains (see photos); interior pages are slightly rippled from humidity/moisture. Some shelf wear to cover.
234 pages.
