1896 Herbarium Folio with Sketches

A truly spectacular herbarium folio created from 1895-1896, with 35 specimens and 6 original plant sketches.

35 specimens; 37 listed in the index.

Most of the specimens were collected in 1896 in Massachusetts. Most are very well preserved and nicely mounted. There are several rarities, including a lady slipper, ginseng, and a Sarracenia bloom. 

Booklet with instructions on how to collect, preserve, and mount plants with a handwritten index of all plant specimens on the back. 

Each specimen has its own bifolio, with a plant description form on the front that goes into great detail. This herbarium's owner had beautiful handwriting!
